Whether you are a current Fifine user, or are interested in buying one, there are several benefits to owning a Fifine. These benefits include shorter wires, less sibilance, and a slimmer build.
Resists sibilance
Using a compressor to resist sibilance is a great way to help prevent it from occurring in the first place. The compressor works by reducing gain when a sidechain signal crosses the threshold. This is usually done at the beginning of the signal chain, but it can also be useful in other places.
For example, if you are mixing a guitar track with sibilance, you might want to use a multiband compressor to get more control over attack and release. In addition, you can configure the compressor as a de-esser. De-essing is usually done at the beginning of the signalchain, but it is also a good idea to consider de-essing at various stages of the mix, such as at the harmonic enhancement processing step.
